Libby, our Chocolate Labrador Retriever Mix

When I saw Libby for the first time, she was asleep in my then fiancée's arms surrounded by a dozen bright eyed and bouncing students from a tough Sacramento neighborhood. Libby had found the warmest heart in town and didn't have to worry anymore. Somehow she knew she had been rescued from a hard, cruel life on the streets.

Although Libby's ancestry will never be known, we are sure she has a good portion of chocolate lab. I suspect we will always speculate on the balance, but she definitely has the look and retrieving instincts of a lab. The picture above was taken on an outing at Folsom Lake, CA in the summer of 2001.
