Salmon Falls is a popular mountain bike trail along the south arm of Folsom Lake northeast of the infamous Folsom Prison. Beginning at the Salmon Falls bridge, the singletrack extends from the trail head almost all the way out to Rattlesnake Peninsula.
In the spring time, the ride is spectacular. The trail holds up pretty well in our wet winters, but the water crossings can get dicey. If you give it a go in the summer, get out there as early as you can to beat the heat; you're exposed to the sun and the manzanita will hold in the stifling heat. Bring LOTS of water and stop at the peninsula to cool off in the lake before your return.
